What we use and why
Cookies and browser storage (called local storage and session storage) are small pieces of information saved by your browser. UK law allows sites to use them without consent where they're strictly necessary for a service you've asked for. Everything below falls into that category.
On the public website
| Name | Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| lp-scroll | Session storage | Takes you to the right part of the home page when you follow a link such as "Join the waitlist" | Removed as soon as the page has loaded |
Nothing else is saved on your device when you browse the public pages or join the waitlist.
In the portal, once you sign in
| Name | Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| bpp_auth_token | Local storage | Keeps you signed in, so you don't have to log in on every page | Until you sign out or your session ends |
| bpp_view_as_org, bpp_view_as_target | Session storage | Lets bureau staff preview the portal as a client or partner sees it | Until you close the browser tab |
| sidebar_state | Cookie | Remembers whether you've opened or collapsed the menu | 7 days |
| bp.focusPrefs.v1, bp.calendarPrefs.v1, bp.timeBar.collapsed, bpp.journals.open, bpp.tickets.oldestFirst | Local storage | Remembers display choices you make, such as calendar view, panel layout and sort order | Until you clear your browser storage |
| bpp.payDate.kept, bpp.dormant.kept, bpp.logTimePrompt | Local storage | Remembers reminders you've dismissed, so they don't keep reappearing | Until you clear your browser storage |
Third parties
Our web fonts load from Fontshare, which receives your IP address when your browser fetches them, as any website does when serving a file. Fontshare doesn't set cookies through our site. We don't embed social media, video or advertising content.
Managing cookies
You can delete cookies and browser storage at any time in your browser settings. If you clear them while signed in to the portal, you'll be signed out and your display choices will reset.
Changes and questions
If we ever add analytics or other non-essential cookies, we'll update this page and ask for your consent first. Questions? Email hello@thepayrollportal.co.uk. For how we use personal data more generally, see our privacy notice.
